6. Kolovesi National Park
The wilderness-like national park offers an attractive setting for canoeing or rowing in the midst of a peaceful landscape. Motor-boating is prohibited in the park with the exception of its northernmost parts. However, motorboats can be used in certain special cases, and therefore canoeists might occasinally come across a motorboat. The clear waters of Lake Kolovesi are home to the densest population of Saimaa Ringed Seals in the Saimaa area.
Canoeists should reserve 2-3 days for exploring the national park. There are numerous tent sites. You can start your trip from the boat launching site at Kirkkoranta or Käkövesi.
Further information on Kolovesi National Park can be obtained in summer at the Kolovesi Nature Information Hut, located in the village of Enonkoski. At other times further information is available at Oskari, the Linnansaari Visitor Centre.
